The water stage pulls the polysaccharides and beta-glucans. The alcohol stage, run at low heat with ultrasonic extraction to preserve delicate compounds, pulls the triterpenes, sterols, and the lipophilic compounds water leaves behind. Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus): the shaggy white mushroom that grows in cascading icicles, the same species behind our lion's mane steaks. The fruiting body naturally contains hericenones, ergothioneine, and beta-glucans.
Cordyceps (Cordyceps militaris): the vivid orange mushroom that grows in slim, flame-colored clusters. The fruiting body naturally contains cordycepin, adenosine, and beta-glucans.
Reishi (Ganoderma multipileum): the glossy, hard-shelled mushroom that grows in fans on wood, with a lacquered cap the color of dark cherry. The fruiting body naturally contains triterpenes, including ganoderic acids, along with beta-glucans.
Turkey Tail (Trametes versicolor): named for the colorful concentric bands on its fan-shaped cap, which look like a wild turkey's tail feathers. The fruiting body naturally contains beta-glucans, other polysaccharides, and phenolic compounds.
How to use it: Shake well. Take 2mL daily, straight under the tongue or stirred into a cold or room-temperature drink. Keep it out of hot coffee and tea, since heat breaks down the alcohol-soluble compounds.
